Calling
“ALL” BCCClub members to participate in the 1st Annual
Manhattan
Beach Earth Day BIKE parade – Saturday, April 17.
If you can only show
up for one ride this year, I am hoping this is it.
This is an incredible
opportunity to showcase our club, have some fun, take some group pictures,
listen to music and support a wonderful cause!
We expect between 60
– 100 riders (& mostly BCCClub members) to participate in the Bike
Parade –
•
Please wear your BCCClub club jersey.
•
Each rider will receive a very cool commemorative
1st Annual Earth Day Bike Parade wristband for your participation.
•
We encourage riders of all levels, ages and bike
types to participate: road, strand cruisers, commuters and families.
•
There will be a staggered start and the BCCClub
cyclists go first, commuters, strand cruisers and then families.
• We will
meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Marine Ave Park, at 10:30
(N/W corner of Marine Ave & Redondo Ave) we will proceed south to
the Polliwog Park with a Police Escort (& of course flashing lights). • Naturally
wear a helmet and a smile, and show the world what safe cycling is all about,
riding to, during and from the event.
•
There will be a secure bike valet at the finish,
so the riders can drop their bike off and participate in the Earth Day
festivities.
•
We expect local newspaper and possible TV
coverage, and there will be numerous opportunities for club
pictures.
We are looking for
volunteers to help staff the BCCClub booth and to assist with the pre-ride
activities….please RSVP if you’re interested and in advance, thank
you!!
You can either ride
directly to the Marine Ave park and be there @10:00 am or meet other club
member at the Catalina Coffee company @9:00 am and ride to the parade start
(slow pace).
Call me if you have
any questions (310) 341-8701
This weekend I have
reversed the rides, and on Sunday (April 18th) we are doing the
club’s favorite LA Ride, starting at 7:30 from the La Cienega
Tennis Center for a wonderful 50 mile intermediate–advanced ride around
Los Angeles past the LA Zoo and back.
Thanks Jim Hannon,
USA Level 2 Cycling Coach and a very proud President of the Beach Cities
Cycling Club
