Dear Jim and Members of the Beach Cities Cycling Club,

We are so grateful for your generous donation to 1736 Family Crisis Center. Your money will be spent to help teens, children, and women whose lives have been torn apart by violence, homelessness, debilitating personal and family challenges.

Through 1736 Family Crisis Center's five shelters, three clinics, five 24-hour emergency response stations, and outreach services, we were able to help about 25,000 this past year. The most severe cases seen in hospital emergency rooms, courts, public protective services and social service agencies throughout Los Angeles were taken into our immediate care.  Many were children and teenagers who have been abandoned; others are severely battered/beaten women and children. Unfortunately, many are pregnant because pregnancy is a time when violence statistically escalates.  Roughly, 75% are kids, from birth through 17.  1736 Family Crisis Center has a staff of 140 licensed and pre-licensed clinicians and support professionals who are on duty 24-hours a day, every day of the year, aided by a couple of hundred volunteers and interns from various universities.  Together, with the support of the community and caring people like yourselves, innocent lives are changes forever.  Literally, the services we provide - food, shelter, clothing, daily counseling, case management, legal services, transportation and much more - result in unleashing human potential and opening doors for those who would have thought it impossible.

We have undertaken an exciting expansion program this year to better help teenagers living on the streets and other high-need community members.  Our 35-year old youth shelter will be moving to a new and larger home and concurrently we will be expanding our community service center services by opening two new satellite locations to reach needy and low income children and families with counseling, crisis response, career development, and a concrete plan for their survival.

Jim, we are funded 100% through grants and kind individuals in the community.  Therefore, our deep appreciation for your members' donation is heartfelt.  We look forward to an ongoing relationship with each of your club members and would like to extend an invitation to each one of you to come and visit us and discuss further involvement opportunities at your leisure.  We have many volunteer opportunities available if there is interest.

Sincerely,
